EAP, SBIRT and DOT-Covered Employees
EAP, SBIRT and DOT-Covered Employees
On-Demand Recording:
Certificates of Completion are not available for this on-demand webinar.
Description:
Employee assistance professionals work with individuals who are employed in every industry and in every type of work organization, including employees subject to very specific U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) alcohol and drug testing regulations (DOT rules). DOT-covered employees, like any others, may come to the EAP for a variety of reasons. In the vast majority of cases, standard EAP assessments, including the SBIRT protocols outlined in this training program, are appropriate. Under certain circumstances, however, this is not the case. This webinar outlines how to better recognize special considerations for following SBIRT protocols with DOT-covered employees and what to do in the event of a DOT rule violation. This webinar will also discuss how to handle a DOT-covered employee’s voluntary disclosure of a substance use problem.
By the end of this webinar, you will be able to:
- Describe the appropriate utilization of SBIRT with DOT-covered employees; and
- Comply with special agency requirements in the event of the employee’s voluntary self-disclosure of a problem with alcohol and/or drugs.
